Does anyone know how much Apple is charging for our monthly membership?
I’m hoping for some comments soon as the right column looks like a rainbow mess right now.
Is the orange not considerably brighter than the black on your screen?
If it’s a problem, I’ll need to work out how to recolour all the buttons as they are matched to the orange boxes. I thought it was a nice, clear highlight colour to make certain things easy to see.
Okay, I have no control over Patron so it’s up to them to comply with the law. I’m not VAT registered so I don’t handle that anyway.
I can’t just choose colours. I can only choose between preset colour schemes. To elaborate, I cannot change individual colours, just pick a scheme which recolours the entire box.
If bright orange is too dark, I have limited options as that’s middle brightness. I’ve tried blue (same brightness level but different hue). Is that better? Personally I think it clashes.
Actually, I’ve set eight of the right column boxes to different bright colours to show the options. From top to bottom they are Blue, Lime, Crimson, Pink, Teak, Purple, Violet, Green & Purple. Ones I haven’t used yet are: Yellow, Transparent, Red and all the dark colours (brown, charcoal etc.).
The top?? I’m pretty sure we’ve never done that. It was discussed at least once but I think it was widely agreed that new posts should appear at the bottom of the thread as otherwise it feels backwards or unintuitive.
It depends how you pay. I believe that via a web browser, it is the original price. If you pay via Android or iOS it costs 30% (I think) more due to extra fees added on top by Google and Apple. The worst thing is, I don’t even get the money from them until ages later. For reasons I don’t understand, Apple holds the money in their account for 75 days before passing it on to Patreon.
My advice would be to always use a laptop or desktop computer to avoid being ripped off.
This is tricky. One of the reasons I picked orange instead of blue, green or yellow, was that it gave better contrast with the black text. The blue and green were particularly fuzzy for me. Also it needs to be something which tones in with the other colours (orange buttons etc. – which also need to vividly stand out)
I have 16 colour schemes to choose from for that panel, but it desperately needs to be something that stands out (otherwise people keep asking me to add a pane that’s already there).
Also, I was referring the forum itself. I haven’t changed the right panel colours in a couple of weeks.
The forums are threaded, so if you reply to a post, your reply should appear under that post. It helps stop the forums from descending into gibberish.
Patreon gives pretty minimal support for the WordPress plugin so I wouldn’t count on anything.
There are no server issues in the log for this site.
I can’t find anything wrong anywhere. Did anyone else have a problem?

It could be Patreon but I’ve not heard of any problems at their end. What was the error (ie what did it say)?
What was the error message? I wasn’t even online last night.
A couple of people have suggested that it would make sense to increase the £3.50 patron price to £4.00. It sort of simplifies it but also means I can just put £4 (ie 2 characters) instead of £3.50 (5 characters).
It would, potentially, help the site cover it’s costs, but only if we don’t lose patrons because the modest price increase.
No, that you now can’t add them when editing because there’s a 1KB limit on filesize. I can’t get rid of the add option on editing as that’s a bug in the plugin, but I can reduce the filesize limit so much as to render it useless.
Does this solution work for attachments? It’s not ideal but it sort of does what we need.
If anyone can tell me how to turn on the “Bin” option, please let me know as it’s just NOT in the options.
Worst case, you can always ask me to delete a forum post.
Attachments in the age-verified areas are 2MB. Elsewhere they should not be allowed. 512KB is not specified anywhere so I’m not sure where it’s getting that from. The editing dialogue is messed up because the attachments plugin is a mess.
I can’t fix the attachments. It’s an external plugin and it’s rubbish.
And for some strange reason, it offers me to add an attachment when I edit?
Which should I get rid of, attachments or editing?
If there’s any mechanism for adding attachments in parts of the forum where they are not permitted, the site is dead. The site would become illegal.
I might have to completely remove the attachment option. It seems turning it off for individual forums doesn’t work.
If attachments continue in the non-verified forums, the whole site will have to go.
You can edit posts for fifteen minutes after you’ve posted them here. I’ve no idea how long it was on the old site.
I have no idea why there is a delete button on the old site and not on the new one. There is no option for this I can find.
I and my test user both have a “Bin” link.
I’m sure that it used to be possible to delete your own post.
I’ve just rechecked. I can’t find any such option. You don’t have “Bin” in the horizontal list of links?
Attachments are turned off for non-age-verified forums. You should not be able to post attachments here. I don’t have the option when I post here.
No, there’s no like button. It’s a plugin which was hugely slowing down the site.
It will have to be unlinked Xs. I can’t just delete their achievement.
It would be great to hear what people think of videos like this.

Sorry this is taking so long.
You’ll see the menu system is expanding and I’ve added a couple of new panels to the right sidebar. There’s still a frightening amount of stuff to add, but I’m getting through it slowly.
Gradually filling out the menus and pages. This is going to take some time.
Sorry, this has been a little delayed. I’ve got a whole set of display widgets (including displaying who is online) which have stopped working.
If everything has gone to plan, anyone who signed up via Patreon can just log in here too – no need to set up a new account.
