I can’t be the only one seeing this phrase more and more. How do we push back and stop the media referring to nudity as “harmful content”? What is “harmful” about nudity?!

Online media are only referring to harmful content to try to protect themselves. In “Western” cultures, originally, a lot of it has to do with the influence of Christianity and its attitude toward sexuality and nudity. Not to single out Christians, the reason why people tend to be more covered up in the Middle East (you don’t find many nudist beaches there) is due to Muslim culture. Basically, society is influenced greatly by religion. In the far East, for instance, communal bathing is common.
But the strange and worrying thing is that we gradually seem to be regressing in some ways from say the 1970s and it seems to be mainly to do with increased authoritarianism than people becoming more offended.
There are patterns of social norms that have strong affects. You will see topless women on pretty much all beaches around Europe. So why is it so rare to see it on UK beaches (where there are certainly no laws against being topless). I think it’s simply because it’s not the norm!

This one isn’t going away any time soon, is it? If you read “harmful” as “potentially dangerous”, it really highlights how ridiculous this use of language is.

I think you’ve missed the point. It shows how the versatility and ambiguity ot English can be used to one’s advantage.
The intention hete is to link nudity, and consensual sex with abuse and then challenge anyone to say this isn’t “harmful”.
Nobody takes up the challenge for fear of being publicly branded as a “weirdo” or a “pervert”.
At the risk of getting political, this is part of a push by extreme right wing groups to suppress “left wing liberals” by over simplifying an emotive topic to appeal to a wider audience.
While it won’t go away, there is a possibility it will be overshadowed by something new or bigger.

No, I agree. We’re seeing it more and more often in politics. They group up the stuff they don’t like with topics which are social taboos (for good reason), to get what they want.
I still see it as a deliberate abuse of language. I fought this for years around 25 years ago and now here we are again. It’s depressing.

Depressing is the right word. I fear targetting sexual activity (including nudity) is just the start, because orientation will be targeted using the same approach.
I’m getting too old to shout out on topics, I’ve previously supported racial equality groups when Tommy Robinson thought Peterborough would be a good place to hold a rally, that ended with more locals (from all ethnicities) attending to protest against BNP.
It seems to be a trial that every generation is forced to endure.

When I first started running websites in the late 90s, the internet viewed non-nudity and violence as acceptable. Even slight nudity or adult topics tended to be instantly grouped as “porn”. It took years for any nuance to be accepted. That’s why my first adult-themed site was called “A Measure of Curiosity” and didn’t include any reference to nudity in the title. Times changed and the Internet got a little more intelligent over the next few years, and I opened a few more sites (most of them flopped).
Now I feel we are very much heading the other way.

As an 84 year old man and poster boy for skin cancer. What I see is nudity used in relationships with sex. Every nude man is to hide his sexual feelings. And on photos please. Korea the women nurse their children in public. Japan has bath houses are nude. The Greek gymnasium means all participants are naked. I feel what they are saying is avoid sexual content. The Christians are objecting the sexual content. The bible reads that the first time a husband and wife give each other their naked bodies to each other it is the beginning of a lasting covenant. I would consider their point of view.
