A couple of people have suggested that it would make sense to increase the £3.50 patron price to £4.00. It sort of simplifies it but also means I can just put £4 (ie 2 characters) instead of £3.50 (5 characters).
It would, potentially, help the site cover it’s costs, but only if we don’t lose patrons because the modest price increase.

50 pence probably won’t make a lot of difference to the take-up, though bear in mind that Patreon already charges members £4.20 for the £3.50 subscription. I don’t recall Patreon ever stating that anywhere, though it’s now a while since I started it so I may have just forgotten.
However, it’s usually best not to change three things at the same time (ie, the new forum, age restrictions and the price) otherwise it makes it harder to judge whether lost members are down to migration, unwillingness to submit to age restrictions or the price.

It depends how you pay. I believe that via a web browser, it is the original price. If you pay via Android or iOS it costs 30% (I think) more due to extra fees added on top by Google and Apple. The worst thing is, I don’t even get the money from them until ages later. For reasons I don’t understand, Apple holds the money in their account for 75 days before passing it on to Patreon.
My advice would be to always use a laptop or desktop computer to avoid being ripped off.

@ed: “It depends how you pay”
I’ve only ever visited Patreon (and Naked Experiment, until this morning) from a desktop computer.
But I checked the billing on Patreon — it’s treating the £3.50 as a vat-exclusive price (which I believe is not allowed in the UK, prices quoted to UK end users must always include all taxes, but VAT exclusive might be legal and normal wherever Patreon is based). So Patreon is adding 70 pence for VAT and hence the £4.20 billing.

I don’t have an issue. Assume you were updating, I couldn’t get on the site last night, got an error message, but all good today

After I logged in to see and reply to the pricing question, I logged out before remembering I was going to have another quick look around the site. When I tried to log back in, the Patreon login screen gave an error which I assumed was a Patreon problem. It was the same on the community site. It was working again the next time I tried it later in the evening. The sites seemed to be working – I didn’t notice that they weren’t – I assumed it was just the Patreon login temporarily broken at their end, not nakedexperiment.

I don’t actually remember but I wonder if it was a fairly empty page with a 505 internal server error. I’ve seen one recently, and can’t think where else it would have been. I’ve seen those in the past on a test site when the database doesn’t reply quickly enough to the web server. Or it can happen if the database gets an invalid query from the web server, but in that situation you’d hope the Patreon add-in you’re using would deal with the error using a friendly message and not throw a 505 wobbler.
There’s a very high chance I’m talking bollocks as usual!!
